Activity: Sculpture Project Part IV; Decorating
Materials and Resources: Plastr Craft, paint, feathers, materials from home, brushes, palettes, Mod
Podge, tissue paper, fabric, decorative paper, wooden bobbles, etc
Objective: Through the exploration of decorating materials (fabric, paint, decoupage, etc), participants will
be able to create a finished vessel that represents a wish, hope or prayer that is important to them, helping
with memory recall and self-expression.
Prior Learning/Lessons in Unit:
1. Introduction; Materials Exploration
2. Part I; Theme and Armature Construction
3. Part II; Armature finishing/Introduction to Plastr Craft
4. Part III; Plastr Craft Finishing
Association (Demonstration-Lecture): The participants have completed four lessons prior, in which they
have done materials exploration, been introduced to the theme and began armature building. They have
finished or are finishing the sculpting process and are beginning to decorate their pieces.
What is something you learned about Plastr Craft now that you have had time to work with it?
Is there something you might do differently if you were to work with this medium in the future?
Visualization (Demonstration-Lecture): There will be a minor demo (if necessary), where we show
participants how to cut the strips of Plastr Craft and then how wet and smooth them onto their sculpture.
What items have you brought from home to incorporate into you piece?
Do you think the sculpture will change to accommodate these found objects, or are teh objest
there to compliment the sculpture?
Recap: We have talked about the theme and how we can create a sculpture that fits that theme. We have
talked about how to cover our armature with Plastr Craft.
Transition (Students at Work): Participants will continue to work independently.
