Studentswillfirstlearn,intheclassroom,aboutthefoodsweeatandwherethey
comefrom.Afterlearningthis,Iwillraisequestionabouthowthiscouldeffectthe
environmentandhowprocessedfoodsmaynotbethebestoption.Wewilllookatthe
datasupportingtheseclaims.Afterrealizingtheimportanceofeatinglocally,ourclass
willstartaschoolgarden.Ihopetohaveafarmerand/orgardenercomeinandhelpus
out.Onceourgardenhasbegunwewillbeginspreadingthewordtootherclassroomsby
makinginformationalposterstoplacethroughouttheschoolandencouragingmy
studentstotalkaboutlocalfoodsandinformtheirpeers.Whenourcropsarereadyto
harvestwewillsetupaninformationalboothattheChelseaFarmersMarkettosellour
cropsanddrawattentiontothemanyotherlocalproductsavailableatthemarket.
Reflection:
Studentscouldkeepajournalthroughouttheexperiencetorecordhowtheyare
feeling.Beforetheservicetheycouldposequestionsintheirjournalaboutwhattheyare
wondering.Duringtheservice,theycouldreflectonhowtheythinktheprojectisgoing.
Finally,afterwardstheycanreflectonthequestionstheyposedatthebeginningandtalk
abouthowtheprojectwent.
Celebration:
Itwouldonlyberighttocelebratewithafeastonalllocalproducts!Duringthe
feastwecanreflectontheproject,talkaboutwhatwelearnedandsharestoriesofour
experience.
