Service Learning Project

Marie Zill outlines a service learning project for 5th grade students about the benefits of eating locally. The project involves students first learning about where their food comes from and the environmental and health impacts. They will then start a school garden to grow crops and sell them at the local Chelsea Farmer's Market. Throughout the project, students will keep journals to reflect on their experiences and questions. The project aims to teach students about the effects of food sources and encourage eating locally through hands-on experience in the garden and at the market.
