The Delhi Police Commissioner issues a rejoinder to an Indian Express news article about an incident where police allegedly threw boiling oil from a pan onto children. The rejoinder states that on Eid, unauthorized street vendors were blocking traffic on a road. When police instructed them to clear the road, one vendor's pan fell and spilled hot oil, burning a constable and two nearby children. All three were treated and discharged from the hospital. Witnesses did not support allegations of bribe demands by police, making those claims unfounded and intended to damage the police's reputation. The police request equal prominence be given to publish this response to provide proper context to readers.

No. 310/PRO/PHQ dated Delhi, the 21/07/ 2015.
To The Editor, Indian Express New Delhi. Subject: - Rejoinder to the news-item captioned Boiling oil from pan thrown by cops burns kids Sir, This is with reference to the news item appeared in your esteemed newspaper today. On the occassion of Eid, several unauthorized street vendors were blocking the 25 Foota Road in the Old Mustafabad area, thereby obstructing normal flow of traffic and public. The police staff on duty instructed them to clear the road and footpath and during this process, one vendors pan fell down spilling hot oil due to which one Constable received burn injuries besides two children standing nearby. All three were rushed to the hospital where they were discharged after primary treatement. During the enquiry, statements of many independent witnesses namely Naeem, Shakil, Hanif etc were taken who have not supported the allegations of bribe. Hence the allegations of demand of bribe are unfounded and baseless, therefore, denied. They seem to be motivated, malacious and with intent to lower the esteem and moral of police. In the light of above, it is requested that this rejoinder may be published in order to put the matter in proper perspective with the equal prominence for your esteemed readers.
Yours faithfully, (RAJAN BHAGAT) PUBLIC RELATION OFFICER DELHI POLICE DELHI.
