Nipmuc Graduation Requirements

Students must earn 26 out of a possible 28 credits.


Passing grade is a final average of 65 or greater.
Passing scores on MCAS in ELA, Math, and Science are
required for graduation.

GPA & Class Rank


The grading system is based on a 100-point scale. The
GPA is calculated at the conclusion of the junior year for
college application purposes.
Class rank is determined by a quality point system
including all final grades. Courses have a weight from 3
to 5 according to the following designated course levels:
AP Courses - Level 5
Honors Courses - Level 4
College Preparatory Courses - Level 3

Driven by the core values of high expectations, respect,
accountability, and academics, Nipmuc Regional High
Schools 614 students participate in a rigorous
academic program. Focused on developing 21st
century skills through the application of learning, the
school supports students personal and academic
growth to prepare them for success in college, careers,
and the community.

Nipmuc Regional High School serves the communities


of Mendon and Upton as well as surrounding
communities in south central Massachusetts. The yearround population of the two towns is respectively 5,876
and 7,640. In addition to Nipmuc Regional, there are
three other schools in the Mendon-Upton Regional
School District: Miscoe Hill Middle School, Clough
Elementary School, and Memorial Elementary School.
Mendon and Upton are small communities that are
primarily residential in nature. During the past ten
years, the towns have been diversified by their
proximity to Boston and the technological industry
located along nearby Route 495.

Over the course of the last five years Nipmuc has seen
significant growth in its Advanced Placement program

Honors Program
Nipmuc offers 46 courses at the honors
level. There are honors courses offered in
English, Math, Science, History, World
Languages, Business, Art, and Music at all
grade levels.

1:1 Learning Program


Nipmuc supports its curriculum, instruction,
and assessment through its 1:1 learning
program in which all students use iPads as
educational tools. The program emphasizes
the use of technology as a way to
communicate, collaborate, and innovate in
teaching and learning.

Clubs and Activities


Spanish Immersion Program
Students in Mendon-Upton Regional Schools have the opportunity to
participate in the districts Spanish Immersion Program, delivering
instruction through Spanish as the primary language beginning in
kindergarten. After receiving primary instruction in Spanish during
their elementary and middle school years, Nipmuc students have the
chance to apply their learning in Advanced Placement courses,
school trips, and cultural opportunities.

STEM Scholars Program


More than 100 students participate in the Nipmuc STEM Scholars
program, connecting them to colleges, universities, and STEM
professions. Students receive workplace readiness training,
participate in a STEM career and college fair, connect with colleges
and universities, and participate in career shadowing or internships.

DECA Program
DECA is integrated into the Business curriculum as a means to
develop critical thinking, communication, and organizational skills
while fostering creativity. Over 20% of Nipmuc students are members
of the club. Each year over 100 students qualify for the state
competition (SCDC) and 10-20 students qualify for the international
competition (ICDC).

Visual & Performing Arts


Nipmucs visual arts department is the recipient of the College
Boards Award for Excellence and Innovation in the Arts. Students
annually display more than 1000 pieces of original art at the Nipmuc
Fine Arts Festival. Students also participate in a variety of musical
and performance groups including concert band, wind ensemble,
vocal ensemble, jazz band, percussion ensemble, a capella, and pep
band.
Nipmuc Regional High School is accredited by the New England
Association of Schools and Colleges.
