This Unending Peace Cannot Be All There Is!

and coexist in peace and order, with crime and despair slowly becoming forgotten.
Recollection of past events have faded and succumbed to the test of time. Amongst
the endless, perhaps uncanny happiness lies Humanity, and amongst Humanity is a
festering illness which cannot be stopped. This illness, of course, is curiosity.
Sowing the seeds which would end the great peace, Humanity grew interestedwhile few in numbers, individuals slowly rose up, pestering and demanding that
there must be more to life than eternal tedium and prosperity. The majority refused,
and for the first time did individuals disagree amongst the great peace.
These quotes would vary but in the end they all meant the same. Humanity was
splitting apart, proving that the everlasting peace was never really everlasting.
What was first thought of as a simple, harmless emotion would lead to the
destruction of all things good.
Before the unending peace, all beings were thought to have been apart, separated
by what was known as the shifting plains. These plains resembled a finely smoothed
cloud layer, constantly moving back and forth, rising and lowering. What had
remained below the shifting plains was a mystery, but it was known that the
technology of the predecessors was capable of traversing its massive expanse.
To the day of the fractures, the shifting plains were thought to be a mutual barrier
between the unending peace and those who would threaten its ways. While
oblivious as to what created the shifting plains or how they work, many people
would come to worship the plains as if it were a deity. This belief was obviously
misplaced, but along with it came a cult following as the realms sought comfort in
the plains.
The realm of the unending peace, while not fully charted, would be known as
Mosao. Across its great expanse would nearly one hundred civilizations thrive and
prosper among the peace, growing and filling the lands as they are explored. Each
of the various populations adopted their own tradition, independent of one another.
The outstanding beauty of the diverse cultures jutted forth, visible from the highest
peak as a glorious symbol of what the unending peace has brought to the once wild
world.
Many technologies before the unending peace still remain, mostly thanks to its
incapability to function without them. The majority of the technologies that the
people of Mosao employ in basic activities are harmless and simple contraptions,
meant to assist with daily life. However, the most important of these technologies
are the vehicles employed long ago, capable of traversing the surface of the shifting
plains for easy and uninterrupted transportation between two points.
Few of such vehicles remain, but the few that exist are responsible for the majority
of transportation across the borders of Mosao. Resembling gargantuan water-bound
ships, these vehicles would slice through the shifting plains as if they were afloat on
a liquid. The lives of countless beings are hinged on the working order of each of
these vessels, each one transporting vast amounts of supplies across great
distances with haste.
These vehicles, while critical to the survival of the unending peace, were initially
thought to have been used as instruments of war. The plethora of utilities which the
people of Mosao did not understand aboard the vessels were thought of as weapons
of great power. The means of operating such weapons were unknown to their crew
for fear of inadvertently harming the unending peace- eventually; any recollection
of operating the weapons was lost.
Even without the knowledge to operate such weapons, the grim thought of what
such things could be used for flooded the minds of all who laid eyes upon the
vessels. The ships would serve as a constant reminder of Mosaos dependency on
technology of the past. As the thoughts of their crews roamed, one could not help
but wonder how such an immensely powerful vessel would be contested amongst
the shifting plains.
Such thinking led many people astray, as fear of a contestant kept them close to
Mosao. In the time of the fractures, however, a great number would come to realize
that nothing could conceivably overpower them. With faith in their ship, a solemn
vessel set out on a voyage to discover what really lied beyond what could be seen
from Mosao.
Once gracefully skimming across the shifting plains aboard a vessel, a select few
would call out the constant feeling of freedom bestowed upon them. The ability to
cross the plains freely invigorated the spirits of individuals onboard. For them, the
entire world was in front of them, waiting to be explored.
The first vessel which had set out, and possibly the last to ever leave Mosao, was
the small transport vessel known as the Albatross to its crew. It was deemed
unreliable and put into storage, never to be touched again. For nearly one hundred
years the Albatross sat dormant, its systems heavily damaged. Before its systems
had degraded completely came the fractures- and in a following series of events,
the Albatross would be taken onto the plains again, crewed by some of the most
renowned of the fractures.
The Albatross and its crew would be faced with an increasing number of pressing
events, some endangering not only themselves but all of Mosao along with them.
From vessels manned by automatons to vicious pirates, there have been many
unexpected occasions that have nearly destroyed the Albatross. Despite the
danger, the crew would find ways to persevere, uncovering the past and making
incredible discoveries along the way.
One of the greatest treasures uncovered by the Albatross would not be endless
bounty, or lost religious artifacts, but entirely new civilizations outside of Mosao. The
very thought of surviving individuals outside of the unending peace was thought to
have been preposterous, much less for entirely new races and communities. Some
of these groups would end up being hostile, and some would end up becoming close
allies with the Albatross crew.
Simply by the existence of beings outside of Mosao, much of what the unending
peace believed ended up never being the truth in the first place; but the differences
did not stop there. The vast majority of the populations had never seen such
technology and power which the Albatross wields. The complete historical lack of
evidence as to the existence of similar vessels was an oddity at first, but after
seeing it numerous times, it was thought to be more than a mere coincidence. The
peoples of the shifting plains were not related to the unending peace whatsoever,
having survived the events of the past and constructed entirely new civilizations.
Further intensifying the curiosity of the crew of the Albatross,
