During construction there will be continuous monitoring of ground water level. This will give us a chance to reassess the value of permeability at a later stage. 6.3 Design of Dewatering System ‘The excavation of the shafts will be supported by the adoption of a supporting sidewalls by secant piles that also provides for the water tightness from the sides Thus the groundwater inflow inside the shaft is originated by infiltration from the bottom of the shaft. For the purpose of dewatering designs, the permeability tests (falling head method) have been carried out to study the water drawdown effect behind the secant piles. The major soil parameter required for dewatering analysis is permeability and volumetric water content. Please refer to the following Design Reports. North Shaft Dewatering-Technical Report: DMR-7-CC04-W-AZP-TMP-R-035-CO1 South Shaft Dewatering- Technical Report: DMR-7-CC04-W-AZP-TMP-R-030-COL Based on the results of the analysis, pumping wells (code PW in drawing) and Pressure Relief Wells (code PRW in drawing) are proposed to be installed along both sides of the excavation, Layout of pumping and pressure relief wells is as following: ‘Attachment Al- DMR-7-CC04-W-AZP-TMP-S-030-CO1 ‘Attachment A2- DMR-7-CC04-W-AZP-TMP-S-030-CO1 During rains, the water accumulated in the trenches and pits shall be pumped out and drained by deploying extra pumping sets and hosepipes as per site conditions, 6.4 Monitoring of Ground Water Table Adequate number of piezometers have been installed/or if required will be installed to monitor the lowering of the ground water table and water level fluctuations. The type, number and locations will be as shown in Azadpur Monitoring Layout Plan. Standpipe piezometers and vibrating wire piezometers will be installed outside excavation to monitor the Ground Water Table and Pore Water Pressure. Attachment B (Drawing. Location and number of pressure wells will be as shown on the design drawing. The exact location cof pumping wells can slightly be changed as per site conditions. The area around each pumping, well shall be leveled for safe position of the drill equipment and it will be possible at each location to collect and drill fluid spillage from the drill excavation. A typical detail of pumping wells is shown in Attachment Al and Attachment A2. ‘The pump will be lowered into the casing by a crane or winch and will be positioned a few meters above the bottom of the hole to avoid clogging of pump by silt or other debris. Before commencement of pumping each pump shall be equipped with automatic level switch system that shall avoid dry run of the pump. Also the outlet hose or pipe shall be checked and be free from leakage and then connected to water carrying main. Silt chambers of concrete/M.S plate fabricated will be provided for removal of silt particles, before its disposal . The treated water will be used for construction activities. Temporary PW shut down to adjust well head to excavated soil level, have to be partialised in order to maintain at least two pumping wells always operating, ‘Additional PRW shall be added if required to maintain a uniform hydrostatic profile below 7‘ BOCK ance = = Germee | Meerceinisar | nuvisiox-o | _pxre-zonans_| & [_nmsionie cEC-CICL IV “METHOD STATEMENT FOR DEWATERING _ ,,QiabEROnAR. | excavated area, 7.2 Survey Works Surveyor shall mark the location of each deep well as per the approved drawing prior to drilling ‘and, later, check the depth of the borehole if required. The Site Engineer shall verify that the well locations correspond to approved dewatering scheme drawing. 7.3 Pumping Well Boring and Pump Installation a) Method I: Using Boring Machine ‘A 400 mm dia. hole (as per the design) will first be drilled to adequate depth (between 25 and 30 m) using drilling machine, The rotary motion of the drill equipment shall be between 50 and 300 PSI. During the drilling, outer steel casing will be inserted in pieces of 3 to 6 meter each and threaded together during insertion. The drilling equipment will press the casing down with the rill bit to full depth. The inner casing will then be lowered down inside the outer casing. The inner casing with a dia. of 250mm will either be made of steel or will be perforated at the lower part or Johnson Screen. After the inner casing is fully inserted, pea gravels (2~6mm) are placed around the well as the outer casing is withdrawn, ‘The pumping well pump will be lowered down the hole with a crane or winch fixed on a small gantry. The delivery pipe and a safety wire / rope will be used to lower the pump down the hole to a depth shown on approved drawing. The delivery pipe and wire / rope shall be fixed and secured to the gantry arrangement at the top. A concrete or steel clamp can also be used to secure the hanging of the pump and pipe arrangement. ‘The delivery pipe from deep well will continue above the hole and connected to a discharge pipe that in turn will carry water to rising main for discharging. b) Method II: Tripod Method ‘Tripod method comprises of drilling deep borehole using a manual winch mounted on a tripod. a, Make a Utility pit 1000 x 1000 x 1500 mm.cEeecicl IV : METHOD STATEMENT FOR DEWATERING _ contonenon tui CORPORATION LIMTUED — DOCNO: QsP/CEC- enee CICUCCMS2? | _RIVISION:0 | _ DATE: 20062013, S & ae —— b. Manually excavate a hole at the upper 1.5 m of the borehole. Ensure that it is deep enough so that the bogey when hammered through the soil does not get displaced and drive down in a straight path, c. Erect tripod directly over the borehole. 4. Adjust legs and see that there is enough working space for the workers to move around. e. Heng the manual winch with the chain pulley block from the tripod. Ensure that it is securely tied and well lubricated, f. Hang the bogey of the required diameter through the winch. Ensure that the rope tied to the bogey is free of any knots or loose threads. g. Initially casing pipe of 400 mm dia, shall be lowered while drilling, then the well liner of 250mm dia. shall be lowered after completion of boring. Pea gravels are then placed around ‘the well as the casing pipe is extracted. h. While boring, the soil strata encountered during excavation shall be recorded, and pipes are adjusted so that strainer fall in line with strata having water. i. After completion of drilling the borehole, lower down the submersible pump fitted with riser pipe into the well liner (250mm dia.) to the specified depth. 7.4 Disposal of pumped out water For transportation of the pumped out water, a mild steel pipe of designed dia. shall be installed horizontally and supported from the temporary traffic decking. As far as possible, this pipe is intended to be leveled for gravity flowing from the bore wells towards the point(s) of disposal. If gravity flow is not possible due to any obstruction, in-line pump(s) will installed. Of the total the shaft shall be stored in reservoirs located at soil level. Then this amount of water, as indicated by CGWB noms shall groundwater extracted from PWs and collected from PRWS located ins be re-utilized or re-infltrated into soil to recharge the aquifer. ‘The re-infiltration into soil can be made through two alternatives either to the existing well located in the area or utilizing the recharge well. For the unutilized weter the points of discharge will be at the manholes of already existing storm water drainage network of Municipal Corporation of Delhi. Before discharging the water into such 9cece Jv | ‘METHOD STATEMENT FOR DEWATERING _ ,oQhbaivert cuits l cconponutiON ost [eases ‘cea | rm acm CreuccouMsa2 | _RIVISION:0 | DATE: 20042013 manholes, fabricated steel sedimentation tanks of designed capacity will be put for arresting muck. ‘The muck will be cleaned manually from the sedimentation tanks from time to time and disposed off to dumping yard along with excavated materials, Of the water obtained from dewatering itis likely to be consumed for construction activities like sprinkling, washing and cleaning of tyres, tools, vehicles, equipment ete.
