Gabrieles Dominating Season Continues


Wellington native
Anthony Gabriele has
strung together one of the
best seasons on the
South Florida PGA Junior
Tour in recent memory.
Gabriele has competed in
6 events in 2014, 5 of
which he has won. One
of the most impressive
parts of this season is the
stats he is posting.
Gabriele has a scoring
average of 69.1 on the
season, which includes
46 birdies and 5 rounds
in the 60s.
The biggest win of
Gabrieles season came
in June when he won the
South Florida Junior PGA
Championship which
qualified him for the
National Junior PGA
Championship last month
in Byran, Texas.
Gabriele made the trip
out to Texas to compete
in one of the biggest
junior events in the
country which featured

the top junior golfers from


all over the world.
Gabriele went on to make
the cut and finished T27,
+4 for the tournament.
Just two days after
competing in one of the
biggest events of his
career, Gabriele returned
to South Florida and
entered Championship
Event #9 at The Polo
Club of Boca Raton.
While some may be worn
out from playing in a

national tournament days


prior, Gabriele went out
and shot 68-65 to win the
tournament by seven
stokes.
Gabriele will enter the
Fall Series with a 400
point lead in the player of
the year race with only 4
events remaining.

Pacheco Wins South Florida Junior PGA Championship


Hallandale Beach native
Valeria Sophia Pacheco
is having an incredible
year on the South Florida
PGA Junior Tour having
already wrapped up 5
wins this season.
Pachecos biggest win of
the year came at the

South Florida Junior PGA


Championship at Boca
Grove Golf & Tennis
Club.
The 14 year old shot an
impressive 2-under-par
70 to capture the title by
four shots. Pacheco
went on to compete in

the National Junior PGA


Championship the
following month.
Although the 14 year old
did not make the cut, she
gained outstanding
experience by playing
with the worlds top
junior golfers.

Foster Leads Challenge Tour POY Race


The race for Girls player
of the year on the
Challenge Tour has
heated up during the
Summer Series. Thirteen
year old Hobe Sound
native Hannah Foster
currently holds a 250 point
lead over Taylor
Caradonna of Boca
Raton.
Foster has
as put together a
strong season which has
featured two wins, two
second place finishes, and
five top ten finishes.

During the Summer Series, Foster took home her second


win of the season at Plantation Preserve Golf Club. The
summer also featured a second place finish at The
Biltmore and a fifth place finish at Hawks Nest Golf Club.

Beber-Frankel Holds Commanding Lead in 11-12 Division


People that fear for the
future of golf will take
comfort after seeing the
high level of skill in the 1112 year old division of the
SFPGA Challenge Tour.
Currently leading the boys
11-12 division is Miami
native Jake BeberFrankel. Beber-Frankel
currently has 3 wins, 3
second place finishes, and
3 top ten finishes this year
with his most recent
victory taking place at

Challenge Event #7 at
Plantation Preserve Golf
Club.
Trailing Beber-Frankel in
the Player of the Year
race is Palm Beach native
Alan Kournikova.
Kournikova, who is only 9
years old, has started to
improve at each
tournament and managed
to capture his first victory
during Challenge Event #9
at Hawks Nest Golf Club.

SFPGA Junior Tour Alumni Wins National Title


Lake Worth native Sam Smolen spent her junior golf years competing on the South
Florida PGA Junior Tour. After having a great junior career, Smolen was recruited to
play golf at Lynn University in Boca Raton. This past season, Smolen and the rest of
the Lynn University womens golf team won their second consecutive NCAA Division II
Golf National Championship. The summer was also exciting for Smolen as she
completed a tournament internship here at the SFPGA Office. Smolen assisted with
professional and junior tournaments during the summer. We want to wish Sam the
best of luck during her senior season as they chase their third straight National
Championship!

on the LPGA Tour, we want to stay in touch with everyone as they continue on their life
endeavors.
