Sizing Tank Overflow Line (U-Seal) - Cheresources

This document discusses sizing the overflow line for a storage tank receiving oily water. The poster asks for feedback on their analysis of sizing the overflow line based on calculations using the Darcy-Weisbach equation and Hills' equation for gravity flow. Another member responds that Hills' equation does not apply in this case since the outlet is submerged. They confirm the Darcy-Weisbach analysis was done correctly. They also recommend a substantially sized siphon break due to the high flows. The first member asks how to size the siphon break, and the second member outlines their approach which involves calculating the required air flow based on matching the liquid flow rate and the pressure drop across the siphon break.
