OUR OWN LANDSCAPE

The project Our Own Landscape is based the idea of using the naNve species
and the school itself as a teaching tool. Due to this principles, the landscape
design fundaments its basis in translaNng the schools philosophy (Choice
Theory) into real spaces; seven themaNc gardens as their seven healthy habits.

In order to achieve and build each of the gardens, we carefully selected species
that highlight our naNve ora. The criteria for the selecNon involves naNve or
adapted species to high mountain ecosystems and low maintenance. The
species chosen does not require permanent irrigaNon systems. The plants must
be temporary irrigated during establishment and dry seasons. Fot that purposes
a drip irrigaNon system will be installed to ensure that the amount of water used
is only the necessary for the areas chosen.

Later on, during operaNon, the school will be permanently accompanied and
adviced by the designer in order to elaborate academic processes and learning
units from the plants and spaces designed.

As the school bases its philosophycal fundaments in Choice Theory,


the landscape design intends to represent and enhance the Seven
Healthy Habits the theory states.
Each habit will be shown in a different garden that represents it,
through the plants chosen or the behavior expected from the kids.
