Autobiography

Putri Dian Lestari began learning English as a second language after Bahasa Indonesia and Javanese in junior high school, though she felt it was too late since there were no English classes in elementary school. In junior high school, she started from zero knowledge but was motivated to learn, making English her favorite subject. In senior high school, lessons became more complex and her motivation decreased, so she took an English course. After graduating, she took a gap year to self-study, including English, before entering the English Education department at her university, where she enjoys her lessons and aims to become an English teacher.

My Autobiography on Language Learning

English is the first second language that I have learned after my first language, Bahasa
Indonesia and Javanese. These are a lot of experiences that I get during I learn English. I
started to learn English in the first grade of Junior High School. Ya, I think it is too late.
When I was in Elementary school there is no English lesson because there is no English
teacher in there. These are many important experiences during I learn English.
In the first grade of Junior High SchooI 4 Wadaslintang, Wonosobo, I started my
journey in learning English. I learn English from zero. I still remember when the first time I
entered to the English class I just know about the English alfabet, numbers and a little of
English words that I learned autodidact. However, my first teacher gave good impression for
me about English in the first time I met English in the class. In the Junior High School I have
high motivation to learn English. English became my favorite lesson. When I was in Junior
High School I focus to learn about new vocabularies and basic grammar.
Different condition was happened when I was in Senior High School. The lesson
material became more complex but my motivation was decrease. In the third grade of Senior
High School I have to get a National Examination. Because of that in the third grade I joined
English course to help myself in understanding English more. In other hand, Senior High
School is important time from me in learning English. I was learn many kind of English text
in that time.
After graduated from the Senior High School, I decided to tow my study for a year. In
the year I was learn about some new knowledge by autodidact learning, included English
knowledge. I was learnt from internet and books. Finally I decided to continuing my study at
English Education Department Of UMY. In here I know that my goal is to be an English
teacher and I try to reach it.
In the university I enjoy with the lesson that the lecturers give. I get so many new
knwoledge about English and English teaching. I still try to keep my motivation in learning

English. I understand that the knowledge spread over the world and it is not enough for me
only learn from the formal study, so I should explore by myself.
