House of Representatives to celebrate 2016 Womens day


The House of Representatives will join the countrys leading women organizations
in celebrating the International Womens Day on March 8, 2016.
Rep. Linabelle Ruth R. Villarica (4th District, Bulacan), chairperson of the House
Committee on Women and Gender Equality (CWGE), said this years theme entitled
Kapakanan ni Juana, Isama sa Agenda! will include womens concerns in leadership
platforms and in the governments development agenda.
Nevertheless, it is encouraging to note that the continuous creation of avenue for
women and their advocates aid in closing gender gap in leadership positions, Villarica
said.
Villarica said the Committee has lined up activities, in partnership with Gabriela
Womens Party (GWP), National Council on Disability Affairs (NCDA) and other
concerned government agencies as well as non-government organizations and civil society
groups.
The traditional hosting of the HRep Monday Flag Ceremony on the 7 th of March at
8:45 a.m. shall commence the month-long activities that aim to continue defending
womens rights and raise consciousness on womens issues through shepherding of
meaningful pieces of priority legislation.
A Photo Campaign and Booth, titled #LabananAng Abuso, shall be opened at 11
A.M. and the 3rd Meeting of the Inter-Agency National Working Committee on Women
with Disabilities (WWDs) Day shall be held at the De Venecia Hall, SWA Bldg., Batasan
Complex.
There will be a forum with Tabaco Albay City Council of Women on the 15 th of
March 2016, Tuesday, 1:30 P.M. at De Venecia Hall, SWA Bldg.
Following the Presidential Decree 744, the Womens Month shall culminate with a
celebration of the Women with Disabilities (WWDs) Day on the 30 th day of March 2016
with this years theme Kapakanan at Karapatan ni Juanang May Kapansanan,
Isama sa Plano ng Bayan!
Villarica will also hold a Forum on Women in Disasters in Meycauayan City,
Bulacan on the 3rd day of March 2016.
Women legislators and heads of client-government agencies and non-government
organizations are expected to attend the events and shall participate in all activities. (30)
