‘green power generation 4 gabe) "pe dupast met RGPG Green Infrastructure Fund Green Rite Solutions Inc. = fi oop BioDryer Technology Ooceel Come Summary of a Project Proposal ) oad 47 The following is a summary of an electricity generation/waste disposal infrastructure project based on a technology refer to as the BioDryer. The Biodryer converts organic waste and bio-solids into clean, renewable solid fuel. This by-product can be used on its own or as a clean substitute for coal in industrial applications or for electric power generation. The project falls within three of the areas of the Green Infrastructure Fund, specifically, municipal wastewater, solid waste management infrastructure and the green energy generation infrastructure categories. The project developer is Green Rite Solutions Inc., an Ontario corporation. Project Description The total cost of the project will be $480 million with asset costs of $400 million. The total share of the federal government will be 25% of the total eligible cost approximately $100 million. The project proponent will build and operate 11 different facilities located in municipalities across the country. The technology is Canadian and all of the equipment will be manufactured in Canada. The economic spin-off from this project will be substantial for the municipalities and regions where the facilities are to be located. The project will create approximately a total of 400 jobs across Canada, Based on environmental assessments of existing facilities in Whistler B.C. and Orlando, Florida, the BioDryer technology can be installed in industrial areas within a municipality. This will eliminate expensive and potentially damaging waste that is currently shipped to other jurisdictions and divert garbage from landfils. Municipalities within the province of Ontario, Alberta, Nova Scotia and BC have been identified and assessed as potential locations for the project. The project is “shovel-ready’, and the proponent intends to start building as soon as a contribution agreement is entered into with the federal government. RGPG ‘green power generation The BioDryer Technology ‘The method of this technology for drying organic waste for fuel comprises the folowing steps: (i) __ ina first stage of the process, carrying out fermentation of pre-blended portions of the organic material deposited sequentially into a fermentation zone (also referred to herein as the "heating zone") of a chamber; (ji) _ withdrawing hot exhaust gases generated by the fermentation of the organic waste and effecting an air-to-air heat exchange with clean ambient intake air to produce a stream of heated air for drying; and (iii) ina second stage of the method, sequentially moving portions of the waste material from the fermentation zone to at least one drying zone of the chamber and, distributing hot air from said stream through the material to bring it to a'desired state of dryness for use as a fuel. The BioDryer has a 25 year operational life and is constructed with high grade stainless steel to handle the corrosive nature of the waste stock. Naturally occurring microbes consume water, pathogens and toxic waste, leaving a natural solid renewable fuel product. Environmental Benefit Municipalities are desperate to reduce greenhouse gases and relieve overflowing garbage landfills. Despite recycling efforts, North Americans currently throw out the equivalent of 99 million green garbage bags a day. With the problem of waste management and especially the handling and disposal of domestic waste, this project and its technology naturally converts any organic material using its specialized patented process to produce pathogen free, naturally created solid fuel that rivals coal in energy efficiency, This bio-fuel has low level of GHG emissions when combusted. The BioDryer operates on natural principles and has many advantages over every other type of waste handling facility or technology. It requires very little outside power lo operate and can actually generate its own power if necessary. There are no lactates, no odors, or other green house gasses created by the process, The BioDryer will also be used to destroy PCB contaminated soil and retum it to aclean natural state. The project proponent has a commercial lab affiliation with Brock University to independently validate the efficacy of the BioDryer system to destroy andlor neutralize various organically based toxins, including PCB. igleen poser genersion Project Stakeholder Green Rite Solutions inc. is an Ontario corporation, The Biodryer technology has been successfully operated in facilities in Whistler Village, BC and the Ready Creek Improvement District in Orlando, Florida. Green Rite Solutions Inc. will be the owner and operator of the facilities and will enter into agreement with the municipalities where the facilities will be located to divert their garbage from landfill.
