teecee60 (Fred) will be doing Astronomy Programs throughout the cruise.

The Astronomy Programs are scheduled for 10:30AM in the Conference Center on Deck 2
from Monday, May 2nd through Saturday, May 7th.
If you are interested in attending his seminars, please email him at [email protected].
The first program is, "Cruising Through the Solar System" with photographs from numerous
NASA spacecraft showing the surfaces and relative sizes of the sun, planets, moons, comets, and
asteroids.
The second program is, "Cruising Through the Cosmos" with Hubble Space Telescope
photographs of stars and star clusters, nebulae and galaxies, supernovae, black holes and quasars.
The third program is, "Cruising Through the Constellations" with star charts and photographs
of northern hemisphere stars and constellations, as well as directions on how to find your way
around the night sky.
The fourth program is, "Cruising With the Comets and Meteors" with photographs of comets
and meteors, along with the meteorites and the impact craters they (sometimes) leave behind.
The fifth program is, "THAT'S a Telescope???" presenting the history and evolution of various
types of telescopes and observatories, on earth and in space. (Including some "neutrino
telescopes" that are located underground, and on the ocean floor!)
The sixth program is, "Here Comes the Sun" which examines how and what we have learned
about the makeup and workings of OUR OWN star. It covers how and where stars like the sun
are formed, the nuclear fusion processes that powers them, and what happens when the sun runs
out of fuel and dies.
The last program is, "Should *I* Get into Amateur Astronomy? " a presentation of the various
types, sizes, and relative costs of different telescopes, binoculars, cameras, books, and views
available to the amateur astronomer.
