Miles Fonua wrote a letter to his English teacher, Laurie Oberg, providing feedback on the class. He feels confused by assignments and like student input on due dates doesn't matter. He also feels the daily reading time is not engaging and books are not well-suited for a classroom. However, he did enjoy writing an I-search paper where he learned about his culture and ancestors. In closing, Miles thanks Ms. Oberg for inspiring him to try hard in school and become a better person over the years at AMES.

Dear Laurie Oberg,
English is one of my favorite subjects in school, along with math and internship, but this year I feel like dont really know whats going on. Every time we have a assignment I feel like I dont really know how to write it or even sometimes what we are doing. I feel like my decision on deciding our essay due dates dont really matter. I feel like you let us decide our due dates but only to a certain extent. I also like reading but I feel like its the same time every day in class its either read for 30 minutes and then we either work on essays or have discussions or debates on things and sometime it can go off topic for 30-50 minutes. I also feel that you should do two different due dates one for the more advanced kids and another for the kids that arent so advanced. I also feel that we should read books that are more suitable for a classroom setting rather than just picking a book and writing about it. I also feel that the book we read as a class should have a bigger class appeal so that not every day we read is just to read and get a grade. But rather we learn from the book that we read so that we as students can learn. The best thing I remember about this class this year was the I-search paper; it was very interesting writing a paper that appealed to us. I learned so much about how my people reached this land and also the hard ships that we had as a people. I would lastly like to thank you for helping me so much this year and actually all my years here at AMES. Youve inspired me so much too actually try in school and become a better person. Sincerely Miles Fonua
