For the fulfillment of our course in Psychology, we are conducting a psychological research
study on slut-shaming in urban universities (e.g. ADMU, UP, DLSU). Our study asserts that
such phenomenon appears to be prevalent in contemporary context; and is embedded in
everyday conversation. As such, we, the researchers, are requesting for your permission to
conduct our thesis study within the school grounds of the Ateneo de Manila University
(ADMU) campus.
We plan on putting up a message board in the lobby of the MVP building for students and
administrative personnel alike to freely write on. It will be up for 10 days, from February
15- 24, 2016. The message board will be our main data source. Thereafter, the written
testimonies will be analyzed. The message board will consist of cartolina sheets. It will be
placed on a rented board. It will contain our proposed definition of slut-shaming: The act of
making a person feel guilty or inferior for certain sexual behaviors, circumstances, or desires
that deviate from traditional gender definitions. Multiple pens will be attached to the
message board for individuals to use in writing their testimonies, comments, and insights.
Your cooperation will greatly help further our psychological research. We are hoping
for your kind consideration.
