Fig. 1 shows a linear switching network. For this circuit, answer the following
(a) If at t=0, the switch is moved from 2 to 1, find an expression for the inductor current
and output voltage for t>0. If Vin=10 V, L=20 uH, C=300 uF, and R=0.5 , plot the iL
and vo as a function of time using Matlab or Mathcad.
(b) At t=5us, the switch is moved back to 2 from 1. Plot iL and vo for t>10 us using
Matlab or Mathcad.
(c) If (a) and (b) repeats for 10 cycles, with a switching cycle of 10 us, plot the iL and vo
using Matlab or Mathcad.
(c) Verify your results using PSPICE simulation. Use a model of IRLR024N (Mosfet) as
your switches.
2. A DC/DC boost converter operates at D=0.6. The voltage across the inductor is as
shown. Find the input voltage and output voltage of the converter.

3. The gate to source voltage for the n-Mosfet in a buck converter is as shown. What is
the output voltage of the converter at t=0. Assume the following parameters. Mosfet
Rdson=10 m, Inductor DCR=2 m, Diode forward voltage=0.7 V.

4. A converter needs to be driven in an open loop fashion as shown below. The max. &
min. of the PWM saw-tooth carrier waveform are 5 V and 0 V. A 5 V supply is
available. Design a resistive circuit that limits the duty ratio (d) between 0.2 and 0.6.
The current drawn by this circuit should be less than1 mA.

7. In the following circuit, switches S1 and S2 are turned-on at the same time for a period
DTs in every switching cycle (Ts). (Assume the inductor current is continuous)
(a) Derive an expression for the steady-state transfer characteristics between Vo
and VSUT. Also find the average input current (Ig) expression in terms of IL.
