Classroom Design

The document summarizes the process of redesigning a classroom. It describes collecting information through surveys of students and teachers about the pros and cons of the current classroom. This included issues like lack of ventilation and crowded space. Brainstorming ideas involved researching inspirational classroom designs online. Proposed solutions included introducing a meeting area, grouping tables in fours, adding two smart boards for easy access, and evenly distributing space. The conclusions were that students work better collaboratively but computers should be available, a spacious bright room provides comfort, and separating lesson and group areas could help attention.

Teacher Survey (Mr. Troesch)

- One thing I see as an issue with my current classroom
is its awkward orientation and dimensions. The
classroom is longer than wide...
- I prefer a rather small classroom that allows me to
pay attention to the needs of other students.
- A smartboard influences the way I teach my
students...

What We learned
- Large windows and bright colors help the students as
well as the teacher mentally and emotionally.

- Classrooms that are colorful, open, and interactive

are those that seem to be interesting.

Phase 3
Develop Solutions

Solutions
- Introduction of a meeting area
- Tables grouped together in 4s
- 2 smart boards for easy access
- Even distribution of space
- Computers for independent work if needed

Conclusions

Students work better collaboratively. But computers should be provided

just in case for an independent study session.

Spacious room and a bright environment provides comfort for both the
students and teacher.

Incorporation of plants brightens the room

Separation of lesson and group work is helpful because students pay

more attention in a close-packed area.
