7 - Block Diagram Reduction

The document discusses transfer functions for feedback control systems. It defines the general feedback form and closed-loop transfer function as 1/(1+G(s)H(s)). It also discusses representing subsystems as blocks, composing systems from multiple interconnected subsystems, and reducing complex block diagrams to single input-output transfer functions through techniques like moving blocks past summing junctions and pickoff points.

FEEDBACK CONTROL SYSTEM
We obtain the equivalent, or closedloop transfer function (CLTF) shown

BLOCK DIAGRAMS
Subsystem is represented as a block
with an input, an output and a TF.
Composed of multiple subsystems.
Multiple subsystems are interconnected,
few more schematic elements must be
added to the block diagram.
New elements are: Summing junctions
Pickoff points
