Memristor

Memristors are circuit elements whose resistance depends on the amount of electric charge that has previously flowed through the circuit. The theory of memristors was developed in 1971 but the first practical memristor model was created in 2008. Memristors are characterized by their memristance, which is a charge-dependent resistance. They have properties such as retaining their last resistance even when power is removed. Various types of memristors have been fabricated using thin films and metal electrodes. They have potential applications in memory storage and simulations have shown their unique pinched hysteresis behavior.

Emergence Of
Memristic Theory
Theory was developed in 1971 by Professor Leon
Chua at University of California, Berkeley.
Found while exploring symmetry between the three
fundamental passive linear circuit elements.
In 2008, R.Stanley Williams developed practical
model.

Definition of
Memristor

A Memristor is a semiconductor whose resistance

varies as a function of flux and charge. This
allows it to remember what has passed through
the circuit.
Characterized by Memristance

Memristance
Memristance is simply charge-dependent resistance.
V(t) = M(q(t))*I(t)
Unit - ohm ()

Property Of
Memristor
Retain its resistance level even after power had been
shut down.
Remember (or recall) the last resistance it had, before
being shut off.
