Case Presentation

The client, R. Locklear, is a Native American/Indian woman on probation who prefers same-sex relationships. She is currently in a 30-day milestone period and taking cognitive behavioral intervention classes. The presenter felt the client may not be fully open due to the presenter previously teaching her class and potential biases, but saw no personal biases regarding her culture. The client's goals are to complete probation requirements by finishing classes. Staff recommend interventions based on a criminal thinking assessment and focus on social skills, cognitive changes, and problem solving over 3 months.

RESEARCH ON TREATMENT
The Texas Christian University (TCU) Criminal Thinking Scale Form is designed to measure
criminal thinking and cognitive orientation.
There are six scales within the assessment that measure client justification, entitlement, power
orientation, cold heartedness, criminal realization, and personal irresponsibility.
Items are answered using 5-point Likert-type ratings, with response options of 1 (disagree
strongly), 2 (disagree), 3 (uncertain), 4 (agree), or 5 (agree strongly).
