Internally Inspecting Large Aboveground Storage Tanks (ILAST) Standard
Chevron Pre-Inspection Checklist Plan with Operations Repair Goals for Next FIII Evaluate: o Age of Floating Roof Seals (typically last 10 to 15 years) o Age of Roof Drain System (typically last 10 to 15 years) o Valves and Actuators to be tested/replaced/repaired. (Recommendation is to rebuild or replace all block valves during shutdown) o TRV update piping to standard detail o Are strapping charts and LOCs consistent? o Do you need to change the hard piped spillover height (or make it changeable)? o Change replace or upgrade sensors (ATGs or LAHH devices) o Check for floating suction requirements or risk reduction (PI Risk) Is FS hold down chain stainless steel? Schedule tank to be out-of-service Collect most recent previous internal and external 653 inspection reports and give to the Inspector Complete Scope of Work Form with Inspector focusing on next FII Interval. Contract with the Inspector. If tank has aluminum pontoon floating roof, plan to prepare pontoons for inspection (drilling, etc.) or hire separate contractor to do so Contact a separate repair contractor for anticipated repairs following inspection, if necessary. Contract a separate certified contractor to inspect cathodic protection prior to date of formal inspection, if applicable and necessary. Set date for Pre-Job with Degasser / Cleaner / CSE Team Hire a separate certified contractor for gas detection, if required by regional Chevron Safe Work Practices. If not reusing interior coating, hire a separate contractor to remove existing coating and prepare tank interior with commercial blast at minimum. See Section 4.6.1 of Standard. Review SWP 534, plan for leg set, consider how you will open manway from inside the tank after tank cleaning is complete (does manway go both ways?) Conduct Pre-Job preferably face to face Set date for cleaning and inspection. Notify governmental agencies that tank will be coming out of service, if required. Stage Equipment then Degas, Clean, Certify, and Inspect Note: This checklist shall be used as a guideline for the Power Team when planning a tank inspection and may be modified as necessary.
