Sacraments of Initiation
-Introduce the sacraments of initiation-Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist. Examine the symbols
associated with the sacraments.

- Invite a priest to talk to the children about the Sacrament of Baptism.

- Have the children research their own Baptism. Complete stencil at home about their own Baptism. Non
confirmation students complete celebrating being Christian. Bring in pictures from home.
- Complete a stencil on the three Sacraments of Initiation. Draw a picture of each symbol.
- Symbols: Children will discuss symbols. Define. Brainstorm a range of symbols in every day context.
Discuss symbols in religious contexts such as Baptism. Draw a picture and label each of these symbols such
as their name, water, light, oil, white robe. Read KWL passage on symbols in the Sacraments.

Confirmation: What is it? Record what they know about this Sacrament. Discuss the promise made by Jesus.
- Read a variety of big books based on the Holy Spirit.
- Look at the flipcharts showing the images of Confirmation. Discuss with the children.
