What
were
learning
this
month
Language: The students continue to read a
dimensional artworks.
Winter is hopefully over and Summer is fast approaching. Even though students
are less likely to get wet or dirty, it is wise that they always have spare clothes
in class. When it becomes very warm, they can wear a hat and sunscreen. It is
best they dress in layers.
2 more months to go and it will be Summer holidays. May will be a busy month
since many assessments will likely be taking place. Encourage your child to
review subjects or topics that they are not comfortable with and to request
support from the teacher if necessary. It is important that your child reads
every day and expands their vocabulary. From time to time ask them to read
the book they borrowed from the library to you. Let them first read the
sentence in French and then explain it in English or your native language. Dont
worry if they dont know some words. The most important thing is that they get
the main idea and are able to think critically (Why? How?).
We encourage the use of technology in the learning process. Many students
have a computer or an iPad or Android tablet to play games at home. Though
their uses are often intuitive, children need guidance on how to use them
correctly and safely. It is important that they use the device in your presence
and that you are aware what they are doing. Banning the use of computer or
tablet to protect your child is not a wise decision but will hamper their social
and academic progress. There are great educational websites and apps. that
can make learning easier and fun. Use them. Your child will learn more without
you having to pay more. Here is a list of some useful apps. and website.
Apps: Boukili (To read French better)
Vocabulary Trainer (to increase vocabulary)
Memrise (listening, speaking, vocabulary)
