Polygon Hierarchy

Polygons are 2D shapes with straight sides that form a closed figure. Quadrilaterals are polygons with four sides that add up to 360 degrees. There are several types of quadrilaterals including parallelograms which have two sets of parallel sides and opposite angles are congruent, trapezoids which have exactly one set of parallel sides, rectangles which have two sets of parallel sides and four right angles, rhombuses which have two sets of parallel sides and all sides are congruent, and squares which are rectangles where all four sides are equal length.

Polygons
A polygon is a plane shape with straight sides .
Polygons are 2-dimensional shapes. They are made of
straight lines and the shape is closed .

Quadrilaterals
- four sided polygon
add
up to 360
- Its
next because all the sides are
closed figures from segments has 4
sides

Parallelogram
Two sets of parallel
sides
Opposite sides are
congruent
opposite angles are
congruent
Consecutive angles
are supplementary

Trapezoid

Exactly one pair of

parallel sides
Parallel sides are
bases

Rectangle
Two sets of parallel
sides
Opposite sides are
congruent
All angles are
congruent
Each internal angle is
90

Rhombus

Two sets of parallel

sides all sides are
congruent
Opposite angles are
equal

Square
Four equal sides
Four equal angles
90 degrees angles or right angles
It can also be defined as a rectangle in which two adjacent sides have equal length
