The breakdown of a grade is as follows:

20% Academic Responsibilities (Including attendance, participation, organization of materials, etc.)
30% Academic Tasks (Including homework, class work, Do Nows, Exit Slips, portfolios, projects, etc.)
50% Academic Assessments (Including quizzes, tests, bench mark exams, etc.)

Academic Responsibilities:
A good student is a responsible student. As a student, to be successful academically, you have to attend class on time,
participate in class in positive ways, organize materials to make them easy for you to study or revisit. I will check your binder
to give you points in Academic Responsibilities category for organization and I will observe your participation in activities to
give you points in Academic Responsibilities category for participation. When you are not in class, you miss opportunities of
learning and participating. Therefore, your attendance is a part of Academic Responsibilities as well.

Academic Tasks:
A good student performs all academic tasks assigned to the best of his or her ability with a timely manner. You will have
chances to do work individually or with others in your group. All the work done will be checked and counted as your grades in
Academic Tasks.

Academic Assessments:
There are will be quizzes and tests. Quizzes and tests can be in different forms. I will let you know ahead of time or on the
testing day. You will also have OUSD bench mark exams. It is very important for you to take all Academic Tasks seriously
because those are the concepts/skills that you learn and practice on and assessments will include problems or problems very
similar to those you have seen in Academic Tasks.

Cheating: Cheating will not be tolerated. For any cheating event, the student will be given a zero. Consequences also include a
phone call to your parents/guardian and a class suspension or a referral to the office.

Citizenship Grade: Your citizenship grade reflects your contribution to your classroom. An excellent citizen consistently
comes to class on time and prepared, and contributes to his/her classmates learning experience in positive ways.

Please keep ALL work for your record. Please check your grade online frequently so that you know where you stand.
Usually I up-date the grade book on every Friday. Please talk to me whenever you need help, or have concerns about your
grade.
Hope you have a successful year!
