Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) gained its versatility in 3G technology
and beyond in recent times and is the selected candidate for future millimeter wave technology.
This work investigates few problems related to transmitter and receiver parameter optimization
suitable for use in future technologies. A pattern recognition based Adaboost algorithm is first
proposed for symbol detection in OFDM systems. Subsequently, PAPR reduction is analyzed
and a successive addition and subtraction technique to reduce PAPR at the transmitter is
proposed. Analysis of the proposed PAPR reduction algorithm is carried out and performance
of this algorithm is compared with the standard PAPR reduction techniques. Multiple in
multiple out (MIMO) is a widely used technology for wireless that has shown to achieve
diversity gain. The proposed PAPR reduction technique has been further extended to space
time block code (STBC) MIMO OFDM system. Performance of the proposed algorithm is
evaluated and compared with standard techniques. In order to further exploit the advantage of
the multiple antennas, a spatial multiplexing called space division multiple access (SDMA) is
considered. A recent evolutionary meta heuristic BATE algorithm is employed for better
information detection of multiple users SDMA technique. The performance of the BATE
algorithm is compared to other similar algorithm.
