Adaptive Learning Tech

Adaptive learning technology individualizes instruction for each student by assessing their knowledge and guiding them through educational content at their own pace. It allows students to build understanding step-by-step through interactive problems. This method ensures students have mastered one area before moving on. Adaptive learning can improve education by tracking student progress, adjusting to their pace, providing interactive support during problem solving, and accounting for prior knowledge through customized presentations. However, challenges include potential distractions from headsets, reduced social learning and collaboration, decreased motivation if weaknesses are exposed, and loss of access to materials if subscriptions expire.

CHALLENGES

Usage of headsets by the Teacher/TA

disrupts/distracts students.
Detracts from the social aspects of
learning which is especially troubling
for ELLs because speaking, listening
and collaborating is critical in
language acquisition.
Pinpoints weaknesses which can
damage motivation.
May erode the privacy of students
schoolwork.
Loss of notes, highlights and ability to
review materials once subscription
has expired and is not renewed.
