A. Does the angle of the launch effect how far the rocket goes?
B. Prediction: If the angle is really high or really low, then the rocket will not go very far because
of the velocity put onto the rocket.
C. Table:
D. Controlled variables: the number of wings, same launcher, same amount of water in the 2 L,
same size of wings, amount of water in the 20 oz
E. Materials:
− 2 Liter bottle
− 20 oz bottle
− 3 wings- 20 x 15 cm
− duct tape
− 250 ml of water
− 125 ml of water
− protractor
F. Procedure:
- cut out three fins for the rockets
- tape the 2L and 20 oz bottle together.
- put 250 mL of water into the 2L bottle
- put 125 mL or water into the 20 oz
- mark where the water line is on both bottles (with sharpies)
- tape the fins to the rocket
- put finished rocket on launcher, and mark angle given
G. Check your experimental design diagram with your instructor and carry out the experiment.
H. Fill in the data table.
I. Graph your data on Excel. (Use appropriate graphs and be sure your independent variable is on
the X-axis and your dependent variable on the Y-axis with correct numbering.)
J. Write a conclusion.
1. Does your data support your hypothesis? Why or why not? (Describe by referring to your
data! Be sure you talk about your data and graph.)
2. What changes would you make if you did the experiment again and why? (Be specific to the
individual experiment…NOT “Be more accurate” “Do more trials”)
