1) The document outlines an experiment to test how the amount of water in the top bottle of a rocket affects how far it flies. It includes a question, prediction, list of controlled variables, materials, and step-by-step procedure.
2) Data from the experiment shows that rockets with 50-150mL of water in the top bottle flew further than the control rocket with no water. Only the rocket with 200mL flew a shorter distance.
3) The conclusion is that the data did not fully support the initial hypothesis that more water would cause shorter flights. The author would make the launching and rocket construction more accurate for future experiments.

A. State your question
Will the amount of water in the top bottle affect how far the rocket flies? B. Make a prediction showing what you think will happen in the experiment. If…(something happens) Then…(what is the outcome) Because…(why you think this) If you add more water then it won't fly as far because it will be heavier. Amount of Water in Top vs. Distance
Am't of water Trial 1 Trial 2 Trial 3 Trial 4 Trial 5 Average
Launch Pressure, Bottle Size, Height of launch, Wing Size, Angle of Launch D. List the materials needed for the experiment. 2 liter bottle, 20 oz. Bottle, cardboard, duct tape, water, launching mechanism, measuring tape. E. Write out a step by step procedure for carrying out the experiment. *Someone should be able to repeat your experiment from your procedure. First, build the rocket to the classes guidelines. Second, then launch the control rocket, Then fill the top bottle with different amounts of water, then launch again. Record your results and get the averages of the distances. F. Check your experimental design diagram with your instructor and carry out the experiment. G. Fill in the data table. H. Graph your data on Excel. (Use the graphing guidelines.) I. Write a conclusion. 1. Does your data support your hypothesis? Why or why not? (Describe by referring to your data! Be sure you talk about your data and graph.) No up to the 200 mL I was wrong. I said that the more water the less it would fly, but it went further up to the 150mL. 2. What changes would you make if you did the experiment again and why? (Be specific to the individual experiment…NOT “Be more accurate” “Do more trials”) If I could change anything I would make a more accurate way of shooting them and a more accurate rocket.
