Calculation of BG Gas Formation Volume F

This document provides formulas and steps to calculate gas recovery, gas volume, gas formation volume factor (Bg), and compressibility factor (Zres) from reservoir properties. It includes equations to calculate: 1) Gas recovery based on drainage area, thickness, porosity, water saturation, and initial gas formation volume factor. 2) Gas volume by summing the product of drainage area, thickness, porosity, and (1 - water saturation) for each reservoir block. 3) Gas formation volume factor (Bg) based on reservoir pressure, temperature, and compressibility factors. 4) Compressibility factor (Zres) by determining gas composition, molecular weight, gas gravity, pseudo-critical pressure

Zres Calculation
How to calculate Zres ??
Step 1:
Tres is known (available from logs/well test data)
Pres is known (available from logs/well test data)
Gas Composition is known
Step 2:
NC
Calculate the apparent molecular weight: MWa = xi M i
i =1
Calculate the gas gravity: g = MWa
28.964
Zres Calculation
Step 3:
Obtain the pseudo critical pressure(Ppc) and pseudo
critical temperature(Tpc) of the gas from Figure A-2 using
gas gravity.

Correction for CO2, N2 and H2S if necessary.

Step 4:
Calculate the reduced temperature(Tr) and reduced
pressure(Pr)
Tr = Tres/Tpc ; Pr = Pres/Ppc
