Smart Phone Review Written From A Smartphone
The first phone up for review is the HTC evo. Time and again I hear the media compare it to the
iPhone, call it an iPhone killer, black black black (that was supposed to be bla bla bla, thanks
spellcheck. Or they tout the 4g network, customization capabilities, and the like. And, while there
are distinct advantages to the Eco, it's a gathered flawed phone for many.of the practical reasons
one needs a smartphone.
1. The OS.
Android, even in its new Sense version, is nowhere near ready cor prime time in comparison to
the iOS, palm OS or even that of many not so smartphones. It is buggy, too unruly in
terms.of.quirks.and needed customization and worst of all is crash prone.
It crashes. It has (as you can see from this article) poor keyboard entry. It has server lag issues
with little things like switching from music to a phone call.
Basically its a Windows 3.1 experience on a phone, meaning, its an open system, which gives it
iniquity, but its buggy and crash-prome, and most important feels like an amateur version of not
just MAC OS but many others put there.
2. Media. This should be a strong suit OS a device with a kickstamd and amazing screen, but it
doesn't.seem like HTC, Google or Sprint thought this put.
To start, you get the device from Sprint WITH NO HEADPHONES!?! What the yell are they
thinking in this day and age? That's inexcusable and half_asked. As a user, you get the phone and
cannot use all its functionality put of the box?
Video. I still cannot figure out where I can download episodes of the wire to my ego. Where is
that service? Oh right, I'll buy it on itunes and use a olive to hook my co0uter to the ego. Yea that
will work.
Seriously there is no video service beyond Sprint's lame tv.serve ce and YouTube (which does
work well).
Interface is a bit cheap and buggy. Definitely a windows vs MAC situation here.
Network. Better than ATT'S but. if.you.live in mostbmajpr markets, pure not goingnto get to play
with 4th yet. Personally imbalances going to phillybthis weeks ill test it out there. Anyway, even
if you live on a 3g market Sprint is making all who users pat abysmal solar premium for 4g.
Making people pay cor a service they cannot use is very offsetting.
Google market. I like the open staNdard. No one needs a nanny from their contwntnthey Re not
related to. Apple has the advantage for now, but an open store will provide better choice and
more productivity than a closed app shop with a curator.
The device.
It's.screen amazing. It has a quicksand. It is 4g. It has good.sound. good.reception. and the.best
cams on the markets _ far superior to the iPhone. And a very nice feel in your hand. HTC did a
good.job.
The.network. this is.easy. Sprint.is like 100 times.better than ATT. Much better data and voice.
And I don't care if you can only use voice.or data and not both at once. When I do use them they
work and work well.
Well that's aboutnit. Q mixed bag. Overall its a better phone than the iPhone, hut.it is saddled
with a ridiculously bad OS. And the whole approach the consumer.seems.half baked.
