model to MSC.Nastran for analysis.

MSC.Nastran 120 Exercise Workbook 1-3

Suggested Exercise Steps:
1. Edit lesson1_work.bdf and review the input file format.

1a. To submit the MSC.Patran .bdf file for analysis, find an

available UNIX shell window. At the command prompt
enter: nastran lesson1_work.bdf scr=yes. Monitor the
run using the UNIX ps command.

2. When the run is completed, edit the file lesson1_work.f06,

review the text result file format, and search for the word
FATAL. If no matches exist, search for the word WARNING.
Determine whether existing WARNING messages indicate
modeling errors, (NOTE - the binary results file,
lesson1_work.xdb, which MSC.Patran requires is not
generated for this exercise).
