ESSAY WRITING CONTEST

Topics:

Rules and regulations:

1. Maximum of one entry per person


2. The word count must be between 700 – 1000 words
3. The entry must be written entirely within the time-bounds of 1 hour
4. The essay must be written in English
5. Writing paper and a pen will be provided by the organizers
6. Do NOT put your name, group name, or any other personal information in the body of your
essay. Only enter the entry number which will be given to you

Critreria for judgement:

1. Focus on the topic (20%): Examines how well your essay responds to the given topic and
remains within it's bounds.

2. Organization and structure of the essay (20%): Looks at the structure of your essay in
terms of introduction, body and conclusion. The organization should move the reader
through the text.

3. Ananysis (20%): How well your arguments are supported with detailed and extremely well
convincing and accurate evidence.

4. Conclusions and recomendations (20%): Examines how well conclusions and


recommendations are expressed and how closely they follow from the analysis.

5. Originality (10%): Looks for creativity in writing through the selection of cases and/or
examples, to present novel analysis and alternatives throughout the entire essay.

6. Language and style (10%): Examines how well the essay is written in terms of grammar,
spelling, and punctuation, as well as word choice and sentence construction.
