Reduced Course Load Final Jan2010

This document outlines the process for students to request a reduced course load waiver (RCL) from their international student advisor. Students with F-1 or J-1 immigration status are normally required to maintain a full course load. An RCL may be approved if a student has academic difficulties adjusting to their program, has teaching/research responsibilities, or needs to reduce their course load for medical reasons as documented by a licensed professional. To apply, the student fills out their information and attaches relevant documents, then an academic advisor or health/wellness center recommends approval citing the qualifying condition. The international student advisor makes the final approval determination according to immigration regulations.
