WHAT IS CYBERSPACE
HOW DID IT ORIGINATE
• The term Cyberspace originated form the famous
novel “Neuromancer” by William- Cubson. In it ,
he created characters who communicated with
computers through wires connected to Brian.
• He called this process as Cyberspace & later it
became the synonym of INTERNET.
What is ARPANET?
• ARPANET stands for Advanced Research Project
Agency Network.
• In 1969 , the Defence Department of USA
developed a communicating system in which
remote computers were connected & secret
messages of scientists were transferred through
telephone wires.
• This system was called ARPANET & is
considered as forerunner of INTERNET.
What is TELNET & FTP?
• TELNET was the communication software
used in ARPANET to support the transfer
of messages.
• FPT stands for File Transmission Protocol.
• It was another communication software
used in the past.
What is TCP/IP?
• TCP/IP (Transmission Control Protocol
/Internet Protocol) is an interface with
which many networks can be connected
together .
• It was developed in 1979.
What is USENET?

• USENET is a network of computers that
connected Universities together .
• Later it became a part of INTERNET.
How could INTERNET
turn to Multimedia?
• When the graphical interface Gopher &
World Wide Web were introduced in 1991
for commercial purpose in INTERNET.
• It is a step forward in the field of
Multimedia.
What is Archie?
• Archie is an interface developed by Mc Gill
university.
• This eased searching INTERNET
information.
What is known as
Hytelnet?
• Hytelnet is an interface developed by the
Saskatchewan University of America with
which the files of information getting
through TELNET can be searced.
What is known as
Hypertext?
• It is the body of text where some or all of
the information is linked , so that when the
user clicks on a word he can find out more
about the word or be transported to another
area of the document that contains related
information.
• This is an option in Internet browsing.
What is HTML &
Web page?
• HTML stands for Hypertext Markup
Language . An author uses this to create
web pages.
• Web page is an HTML document seen in a
browser . These include text , graphics &
other multimedia .
