Report Culvert

During construction of an interchange in Wadi Adai, an existing reinforced concrete box culvert was discovered beneath the planned foundations for two bridges. Trial pits revealed the culvert, which starts with 3 cells and joins a 4th cell from the Wadi Adai roundabout. The culvert affects several piers and abutments for the two bridges. Surveying work located the culvert, which can be followed through iron covers in the road. The culvert is in poor condition with steel hanging from the top slab and cracks in the asphalt surface. Drawings and pictures of the culvert are attached.

Trial pits trench had already started in foundations location (Bridge 1 and 2) to locate existing
underground utilities,

These trial pits for bridge 2 revealed huge quantities of unforeseen reinforced concrete lately
identified to be an existing box culvert.

Surveying work has been carried to locate this box culvert,

This box culvert can be followed threw the iron covers located in the road, and it can be
showed with exact details at foundations location where it’s possible to excavate.

This box started with 3 cells, and it ends up to be joined by a 4th cell that starts from Wadi Adai
Round About. It will be affecting: Pier No. 7 (for bridge 1)

Pier No.1, pier No. 2, pier No.5, pier No.6 and abutment 2 (for bridge 2)

This channel is not in very good conditions, some steel is hanging from its top slab, and some
cracks appear on the asphalt coarse on its top.
