Problem31 18

The document contains equations for the voltages v, vR, vL, and vC in an RLC circuit over time. It gives the equations as cosine functions with different phases. It then lists the specific voltage values for each component at times t = 20 ms and t = 40 ms. Both parts note that the total voltage v equals the sum of the individual voltages at each given time.

18: a)

The different voltages plotted above are:

v  (30 V ) cos(250t  70.6), v R  (9.98 V ) cos(250t ),

v L  (4.99 V ) cos(250t  90)vC  (33.3 V ) cos(250t  90).
 b)  At t  20 ms : v   24.3 V, v R  2.83 V, v L  4.79 V, vC   31.9 V.
 c)  At t  40 ms : v   23.8 V, v R   8.37 V, v L  2.71 V, vC   18.1 V.
In both parts (b) and (c), note that the voltage equals the sum of the other voltages at
the given instant. Be careful with degrees vs. radians!
