Improvred AI

Artificial intelligence (AI) is defined as intelligence demonstrated by machines, in contrast to the natural intelligence displayed by humans. The document discusses various classifications of AI including classifiers, controllers, conventional AI using methods like case-based reasoning and expert systems, and computational intelligence using neural networks and fuzzy systems. Applications of AI discussed include knowledge acquisition, machine learning, robotics, and game playing. Advantages include increased efficiency and productivity, while disadvantages include potential risks if AI is given too much power and the fact that AI will never be flawless.

ARTIFICIAL

INTELLIGENCE
INTRODUCTION
INTRODUCTION
 The term artificial intelligence (AI) means intelligence
which is created artificially.
 The modern definition of AI is the “study & design of
intelligent agents” where intelligent agent is a system
that perceives its environment & takes action which
maximizes its chances of success .
 John McCarthy, who coined the term in 1956, defines
it as "the science and engineering of making
intelligent machines." Other names for the field have
been proposed, such as computational
intelligence,synthetic intelligence or computational
rationality. The term artificial intelligence is also
used to describe a property of machines or programs:
the intelligence that the system demonstrates.
CLASSIFICATION
AI applications are generally divided into
following types, in terms of consequences

 CLASSIFIERS
Classifiers are functions that can be tuned
according to examples, making them very
attractive for use in AI .

 CONTROLLERS
Controllers do however also classifier
conditions before inferring actions and
therefore classification form a central part
of AI.
CONVENTIONAL AI

Conventional AI mostly involves methods now

classified as machine learning, characterized
by formalism and static analysis.
 CASE BASED RESONING
 BEHAVIOUR BASED AI
 EXPERT SYSTEM
 COMPUTATIONAL INTELLIGENCE

Computational intelligence involves

iterative development or learning.
 NEURAL NETWORK
 FUZZY SYSTEM
 EVOLUTIONARY COMPUTATION
APPLICATIONS
 KNOWLEDGE ACQUISITION
 KNOWLEDGE REPRESENTATION
 MACHINE LEARNING
 ROBOTICS
 COMPUTER VISION
 SPEECH RECOGNITION
 UNDERSTANDING NATURAL LANGUAGE
 GAME PLAYING
ADVANTAGES
 View your best product runs and the
corresponding settings.
 Increases efficiency & quality by using
optimal settings from past production.
 AI can optimize your schedule beyond
normal human capabilities.
 Increase productivity by eliminating
downtime due to unpredictable
changes in the schedule.
DISADVANTAGES
 The main problem with AI is the fear
that if given too much power the AI
may turn against their creators.
 Another problem is that AI can never
flawless.
