Essay e Mentoring Program Vaskhia V.S

The document discusses why the author wants to participate in an e-mentoring program. It notes that while college provides an academic education, it lacks real-world workplace experience. Graduates in fields like industrial engineering lack knowledge of what employers need. The e-mentoring program would help students understand how to get jobs and succeed in the workplace. It would also give insight into the dynamic work culture at IBM specifically. The author hopes the program provides guidance on entering the workforce and information about IBM as a potential employer.

Essay-'Why you want to participate in this e-Mentoring Program?

'

College are place for students in learning and being educated. So many lessons have been
taught, but in general, they just enrich their student with scientific and engineering
knowledge with less representation of the real work place. The lessons that might be missed
in college are about how we can survive in the work place and how to fulfill employer needs.
It is not right for me to say that there is no way to enrich the abilities at the college, but still,
the more we have a chance to learn, the more we can learn, right?

Nowadays, so many employer has growing in advance. Their needs in skilled-workers has
made young people trying so hard to competed to fulfill the job classifications. For example,
in my major, Industrial Engineering (that seems can be counted as one of the most growing
major in our country), the employers offers huge work field for the graduates, but lack of
these graduates (especially the new ones) knows what to do in work place. This major has a
very extended knowledge but often stunned the members.

Besides, these young graduates are very fresh that they have no experiences with applying
job. Most of them do not really understand what were employers looking for and how to
shows their abilities and knowledge. Sometimes, it needs more methods to get the employers
knows you better without being eliminated at the first process of selection.

These problems are the reason why I think it is a good chance to participate in IBM e-
Mentoring Program. As one of the best international company, there is no doubt that IBM has
an international standard of recruitment for both a well experienced workers and the fresh
graduates. Furthermore, after attended the workshop from IBM “Workforce Diversity”, I
found that IBM’s workplace are very dynamic and interesting.

I hope IBM e-Mentoring Program can help me both to know better about how to get into a
company and survive in my future workplace and to know further about IBM’s workplace.
