1) In my title sequence production my media product challenged codes and

conventions of real media products with research and planning. I didn't just come up
with the idea on top of my head. I had to do a lot of research on camera
shots/angles, this was read up on the Internet and the help of my teacher also
myself testing shots out with the camera.
The first and main bit of research that started me off was analysing other title
sequence which made a huge impact on colours/theme etc. to use on my title
sequence.
I had to research designs for fonts/colour with same again Internet from 1001 font’s
website. Location needed to be ideal for specific scenes such as the "Bully" scene it
had to be somewhere either woods, forest or alleyway and this had to be conducted
in research method with pictures and scenery.
The colours were researched by looking up on other thriller genre title sequences
e.g. Seven, Batman
Looking for characters was a bit of a hassle as we had to find the right person for the
right role of character so we had actors and actress on trial until we found the right
one.
Sound and effects were difficult as i needed the right sound for the right scene and
took me approx two hours to find the right one. I used freeplaymusic.com to find my
music.

2) My media product represents particular social groups in the teens. As the characters
chosen are 18-20 year olds and have the young modern look. Our characters have a
social outcast on normal society in the 20th century. I suppose my representation
was stereotypical in some people’s eyes however it was aimed at young teens.

This is the characters used in our

production and the (right) represents
young interracial people in society
which is a positive representation. The
(left) represents young girls in her
teens at college. This is a positive
representation for all young students.

This person has a mental illness, however it

represents people in certain social groups,
although it does not create a positive
representation, it shows us real life groups.
The (right) represents young student at
college in his teens.
3) I think new line cinema would distribute my media product as they distribute a lot of
thriller films e.g. Friday the 13th, Final Destination. They have many thriller films that
have been distributed by them and have existed since 1967, which makes them
experienced distributors for new media products. The company would like our
media product to be screened in the UK and maybe US. Mainly UK as it has the UK
costume design and scenery. Not so much for the US as they won't be into the film
as it has been filmed in the UK.

4) Following research conducted the ideal age range for our product would be 15+ as
these are young adults, with disposable income and a keen interest in the thriller
genre. This typical audience member is 21 years old and works for Phones 4 U. He is
interested in watching films, playing football, socialising and working out.

The typical audience member:

5) We used modern, upbeat music that would be very popular with our chosen
demographic. The characters in our video were compiled and organised so that the
chosen audience would be able to relate to the characters in the video.

6)

I have used a number of software in order to construct my

video. I used Adobe Video Premier to edit my video film;
I have also used blogger to post my evidence of research and planning. I used
various on-line mediums to conduct research and analysis of title sequences and
potential demographic. To take still images I used a video camera,
freeplaymusic.com to construct the sounds and effects, google for images for
evidence of research also used youtube for the research of opening title sequence.
I've also used slideshare to upload my documents onto my blog. Before using quite a
few of these software and technologies, I didn't have the slightest clue on how to
use it, however with help from my teacher/friends and the use of my knowledge I
learnt how to use them which is very helpful for the future.
7) I have learnt that it is not very easy to create a media product. organisation is key,
and time is of the essence and consideration must be placed heavily on the planning
and implementation of the product. During my preliminary task I learnt how to
accurately use shots e.g. point of view, shot reverse shot, close up etc. Using these
shots helped me prepare for the full media product. When preparing for the prelim,
time and organisation was very important which gave me an insight on how the real
media product will work? I have also learnt that teamwork is very useful and
important as it helps everyone learn something new from one another and
builds the ability for everyone to work within a team and have responsibilities within
a team.
