Horror films aim to elicit emotions of fear, disgust, and horror from audiences by playing on common phobias like insects, the paranormal, and darkness. They are often set at night in isolated, unfamiliar locations like houses, churches, or woods during cloudy or stormy weather. Music and sounds also play an important role, using orchestral music to make scenes eerie or metal/rock music to build tension.

the auditory features were removed or altered to something not
befitting a horror film.
