Collective bargaining is a process where employee representatives and employers negotiate the terms of employment. For collective bargaining to be successful, there must be: 1) a strong representative union that believes in constitutional means of resolving disputes, 2) an enlightened management that can integrate different stakeholder interests, 3) proper record keeping of issues, 4) bargaining conducted at the plant level, 5) avoidance of unfair labor practices, 6) a change in attitudes where both sides negotiate peacefully, 7) flexibility from both sides to reach an agreement, and 8) any agreement must be in writing and honored by both parties.
