It is a company that is on the list of the 500 largest publicly traded US firms (-as ranked by sales,

assets, earnings, and capitalization). They are listed in Fortune magazine. This list actually goes
to 1000 (Fortune 1000) and there is also the Fortune 100. 

This list ranks only public companies, (traded publicly on the stock market). (Do not confuse with
S&P 500, which evaluates companies for investments).

Companies, those in academies and those who do research look to the Fortune 500 to learn
about best practices in and determine what practices have lead to their business and financial
success.

Fortune 500 Companies in India: Success Stories gathers the experiences of Fortune 500 companies that have
established operations in India across different sectors. It provides insights into their approach and strategy to
market, as well as the tremendous business potential that India holds.

The study was a combination of primary and secondary research. In most instances, a case study was develope
on each company based on secondary research, following which, insights and views from top management of
company were obtained to supplement the case study. The case study was then shared with the company
concerned for validation and approval. Findings and insights from the various case studies have been synthesis
and incorporated into this summary report.
