To secure the wireless network on an Arris modem, follow these steps: enter the modem's IP address in a browser, select the Wireless Setup option, enter the default blank password, choose WPA/WPA2-PersonalPSK security and enter an easy-to-remember customer-chosen password, then select Save to apply the new security settings.

Step 1 enter URL
•  Enter The Management IP address of the
Arris modem in a browser eg. Internet
Explorer, Firefox, Opera etc.
Step 2 Select Wireless Setup
•  Select Wireless Setup option from the
menu bar on the left of the screen
Step 3 Enter Modem Password
•  Enter Modem Password (Modem
Password by default is set to blank)
Step 4 Select Security
•  Select the security option from the drop
down menu below the security option
previously selected
Step 5 Select a Security Mode
•  Always select WPA/WPA2-PersonalPSK (this
gives the user an easy to remember passkey
that can be easily configured on other equipment
wifi enabled phones, pda’s etc.)
Enter A Password
•  Enter a password of the customer’s choice
(preferable something easy to remember
but not too simple)
Save Changes
•  Select the save option at the bottom of the
screen
