Minidoka County School District students who are infected or suspected as having a
communicable disease are not allowed in the school setting while contagious. Parents of a
student with a contagious disease should phone the school nurse or principal so that other
students who may have been exposed to the disease can be alerted. These diseases include, but
are not limited to:

Amebiasis
Rubella (German measles)
Influenza
Lyme’s disease
Chlamydia
Syphilis
Measles (Rubella)
Diphtheria
Shigellosis
Mumps
Giardiasis
Tuberculosis
Ringworm
Hepatitis
Camphylobacteriosis
Chickenpox
Salmonellosis
Malaria
Colorado Tick Fever
Scabies
Meningitis
Gastroenteritis
Streptococcal disease, invasive
Pinkeye
Hansen’s disease
Whooping Cough (Pertussis)
H1N1 (Swine Flu)

Guidelines have been established by the Center for Disease Control, Idaho Department of Health
and Welfare and the Health Department regarding these diseases which will be followed by the
school district. These guidelines include but are not limited to:
1. Treatment options
2. Symptoms
3. Incubation periods
4. method of infection
5. Exclusions from school
6. Duration of exclusion

Re-admittance procedures will include:

1. Note from the student’s physician stating that the student is no longer contagious
because of the resolution of the disease or medical treatment they are receiving.

OR

2. Note from the student’s physician stating that they do not have a communicable
disease.
