AUDACITY TUTORIAL
A short, simple tutorial on using Audacity
A BIT ABOUT AUDACITY Audacity is a free program used for recording and editing sounds. The program is available for Mac, Microsoft Windows, GNU/Linux, and many other operating systems. Click http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ to be directed to the audacity home page. DOWNLOAD
Downloading Audacity is simple!
Choose which version will work with your computer system the best. Simply click the link. That link will take you to another page, recommending a specific version for your computer system (how easy is that?!) Click the “Audacity installer” link, and choose “save” when the grey box pops up. Once “save” is chosen, all there is left to do is wait for your download to finish! USING AUDACITY Audacity will be found on your home screen or in your program files. Once you find and open Audacity, a welcome screen will lead you in the direction you want to go. I suggest playing around with it. I found that it was easier to understand and use after a few tries. To begin recording your file, click the large red record button at the top of the page (easy, huh?) To listen to your project from the beginning, push the dark grey rewind button. Choose the dark grey fast forward button to skip to the end. Finally, use the play button to…you guessed it! Play your project! SAVING AND OPENING YOUR PROJECT To save your project, choose “file” at the top left of the page. Scroll down to “save project as” and choose where you want your project to be saved (such as your flash drive, your documents, etc.) To open your project, you can either open Audacity, choose “file” and scroll to “open”, or you could simply go to where you saved your project at and click it, prompting Audacity to open itself for you! NOW…GET GOING!!! You’re all set to start recording and editing projects!! Happy Recording!
