A watershed is the area of land where all of the water that is under it or drains off of it goes into the same place. Watershed management and conservation measures are important to benefit the watershed. Such benefits include water conservation, groundwater recharge, drought mitigation, flood moderation, increased agricultural production, food security, rural employment, improved rural livelihoods, eco-ecological growth, strengthened agro-ecosystems, environmental regeneration, and safeguarding of nature.
