STATISTICAL PACKAGES

Computer software that perform mathematical function. The statistical


packages are suite of computer programs that are specialized for statistical
analysis.

MAIN FEATURES OF STATISTICAL PACKAGES

STATISTICAL METHOD FEATURE

Statistical packages have various methods that make complex statistical


computations simple and fast. The methods available in statistical
packages are: Distribution methods binomial distribution, poison
distribution. Method for statistical tasting on sample such as comparison
of two variables example Mann Whitney. Methods for comparing pair of
variables/group such as wilcoxon signed test. Method for Relationship
between variables for example Simple linear regression, correlation,
coefficient of determination

USER INTERFACE FEATURE

Statistical packages provide interface for a business user to create his own
datamart , table, load data from file and start analyzing the data all by
oneself. They have graphical user interface which has two views. Data views
shows a spreadsheet, view of the case (row) and variables (column).Unlike
spreadsheet the data cells can only contain numbers or text and formula can
not be stored in this cells. Statistical packages work with regard of the
implementation of user defined function.

DATA AND FILE MANAGEMENT

Another feature which statistical packages have is ability to manipulate data


and inferring information in much easier .Excellent file and data handling
capability, flexibility to create unlimited data set copies are the key features
of the packages.

DATA DOCUMENTATION

These statistical soft wares tools have their own proprietary data structures
for data storage.

GRAHICAL METHODS

These software support various statistical charts, diagrams and graphs


UTILITY OF THESE FEATURES

These features can be useful in decision optimization for determining which


action will drive to optimal outcome they are helpful in business process by
predicting, optimizing and automating decision through the organization
