MY VALUE AS A GENERALIST

A Curriculum Vitae
Just because you don’t notice something doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist.

A resume can describe some attributes of a

person, but it can’t possibly tell you all
the possibilities.

Do I possess abilities beyond what you might read in my resume?

You bet!
“Generalist” defined
“A person with a broad general knowledge,
especially one with more than superficial knowledge
in several areas and the ability to combine ideas
from diverse fields; A general practitioner.”
Wiktionary
A Broad knowledge of

 Finance – finance minor in undergrad, MBA student, worked for

valuation consultancy, and principal and executive in
companies
 Technology – long career in telephony, with early-era exposure
to: personal computers, custom software, computer apps in
telephony, data transfer, wi-fi and other wireless data
transmission
 Marketing – a number of executive positions that required
marketing concept and execution
 And even more. . .

Q: Are skills transferable?
A: It depends on the skill.

Is the ability to communicate needed in every job? How about effective

management? Do employers want someone who has an excitement
about the opportunity? Of course!

Q. So how do you know that a candidate can

really do what they say they can do?

R. Because they’ve done it before.

Can you believe a candidate who says he believes in the value of hard
work when he put himself through both graduate (twice) and
undergraduate school – paying for the whole experience out of his own
pocket?
You bet! (. . .and I did it)
So, what’s my potential value to your company?

1. I can wear many hats so that I can make

contributions beyond any one job description.
2. I have the ability to serve in an executive capacity
because I have understanding in a wide breadth of
subjects.
3. I am excellent in some fields, good in other areas,
and functional in still others. But the difference
between myself and other candidates is that
I AM IN EVERY FIELD.
