It is hoped that the Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals


(SPCA) of your district is functioning satisfactorily. In view of the Hon’ble
Punjab & Haryana High Court directions dated 09.10.2009 in CWP 299 of
2005. I would like to draw your attention to pursue the matter seriously. It is
re-iterated that the meetings of the SPCA be held regularly and in the
meetings, it should always be stressed that regular awareness campaigns
involving school and college students, charitable institutions and NGO’s etc.
be held.
Please insure that a meeting of the society be held for each
quarter and a copy of the proceedings of meetings be sent to the under
signed to review.

Memo:
Although you have been doing a good job by taking care of the animals of
the Gaushalas in your area in terms of effective herd health management, nevertheless it
is again re-iterated that more public awareness and involvement for the welfare of cows
and prevention of cruelty to animals is required at your level especially through SPCAs.
The management of Gaushalas should also be encouraged to avail more facilities
including funding through Animal Welfare Board of India for which necessary inspection
and report whatever and whenever required is to be given at your level immediately to
the concerned funding agency. While holding meetings of the SPCAs, it should always
be stressed that regular awareness campaigns involving school and college students,
charitable institutions and NGOs etc. be also held.
